Crack is Wack

So I meant to include this in my last blog but forgot.  I must say that malls in Texas have proven to be the perfect location for people watching.  Now I know there are interesting characters all around but I see TONS here.  From scantly clad girls who look as those they should be walking the streets rather then the mall, to things that just make you say "What in the world?"  The other day at the mall was no exception.  I just had to sneak a picture.  I believe I should start a new website similar to "The People of Wal-Mart" and instead call it "People of Texas" (no offense to anyone from that state).  Below is exhibit A...

What you see is some Grade A plumbers crack. What you don't see is the lovely strands of man hair sprouting from his crack. LoL...hey everyone needs a good laugh now and again :)

The Shopping Bug

So I think shopping has become my newest way of "coping" with my situation.  Being stuck here in TX I have found that shopping makes me feel not so bad about this state.  Granted I have always loved shopping, but lately it has really put a smile on my face.  I think that sometimes in life you deserve a treat here and there, and especially right now.  Both Chris and I will be official Under Armour models when we leave here, and hopefully in great shape as well!  I have gotten some other key pieces to add to my ward robe that I have been wanting, which include a super cute dark grey blazer, new Miss Me jeans, and some tops that I think are darling.  But above all I have gotten some new shoes, which I love.  I truly believe a girl could never have too many shoes.  And there are several life occasions which call for certain shoes.  Specific outfits require specific shoes. And well, hey I just really enjoy a new pair of shoes on my feetsies :)  Guilty as charged.

On the left are some really nice Under Armour shoes that I got for free from the CFI, they are my new work out shoes! Next are these super cute Roxy flats with casual sneaker details.  I am determined to get a cute pair of crops to wear with them.  Then of course my bright white Pumas that I have been wanting oh so bad.  The last ones are a pair of wedges that I just had to have when I saw them :)  Every year I say I am going to buy a pair of wedges and this time I did, thanks to my awesome husband for giving me the ok!

I always say shopping is cheaper than a psychiatrist.

Slacking

So I went from being pretty darn good about blogging, to kind of slacking a tid bit (oops!)  Not that I don't have the time to sit and blog, I just am lacking in the "blog worthy events" department lately. For the most part, the day in and day out events around here stay the same.  Monday through Friday an alarm goes off around 6:30am for Chris to make a phone call that literally consists of "Hey, this is Sgt Champion. I'm up."  It is better than waking up to roll across the parking lot to do this, but still a little silly if you ask me.  Then PT twice a day and another appointment or two throwin in the mix.  Beyond that, nothing exciting.

I did however go grocery shopping the other day with a friend I met down here.  Who knew groceries could be so exciting and the highlight of someones day or week even!  First we went to HEB which is literally the only grocery store chain down here.  Got most of what we wanted but they were missing some things, so then we also went to Wal-Mart to finish up.  Tops on the list of things I got were vanilla yogurt, organic flax granola, and strawberries.  These three things together is like my favorite little snack ever.  The fact that its super healthy makes it even better!  Not to mention its nice having some food in the house so every time I am hungry I don't have to walk across to the DFAC at the hospital.

Speaking of which, it is a good thing we have food cause it has been nothing but gloomy and rainy all week!  Not fun to walk in.  Even though winter in CO is colder, at least its normally sunny!  Not so depressing as this.  I feel like I havent seen the sun in days.  Boo boo boo! And last weekend I bought these amazing new wedges, which I can't wear in the rain. Sheesh darn weather.

On the bright side, I did get a free massage on Monday night and a free manicure yesterday morning.  You better believe I will sign up for as much of the free "perks" they offer me around here!  Also, Major Birmingham from our brigade and the Sgt Major of 3rd brigade came to visit yesterday.  Just to check in with all of us and see how things are, any concerns, etc.  And I even got coined.  My very first time. LoL.  I knwo it happens all the time, but how many times does a Sgt Major coin a spouse?  I thought it was pretty cool.  My husband seems to think I'm retarded for thinking that. But I don't care :)

And since I realize I haven't really given much of a health update on him, here it is.  The broken bones in his right leg are lined up, and the doc is going to begin a compression program next week.  If all goes well he won't have to do a bone graft and the bones will fuse back together on their own.  The left leg is doing fine, just waiting on it to get a little smaller on the end so they can cast it for the prosthetic.  He finally began crutching this past week.  Hopefully he gets good enough to ditch the wheelchair for some time during the day. He is down to taking only 4 pills in the morning and 4 pills at night.  Compared to taking 10 meds, and taking pills 4 times a day back in November.

Still trying to get used to sharing a house with a bunch of random people.  I get along and talk to a few now which is nice, But, it's still weird.  And the hard water in Texas still sucks.  It makes my poor face break out, and my porr skin is dry! Yes, dryer then in COLORADO.  Now how in the world does that work?  I couldn't figure out what was wrong with my skin, but then when we went home on Christmas my skinwas completely clear within two days and I stopped itching.  Now I am back to doing everything in my power to keep my skin healthy.  Crazy how much a state's water can affect you!  So yes Texas still stinks and I still miss home.  Just trying my darndest to hang tough!

Sometimes our fate resembles a fruit tree in winter. Who would think that those branches would turn green again and blossom, but we hope it, we know it.

1/1/11...A New Year

Well 2010 has come and gone. Wow, where did all that time go.  It was quite a roller coaster year for me. There were some huge high lights of the year, but overall I am ready to take on 2011 and am hopeful for what the future may hold.  So in honor of the past year I am going to attempt to write one memorable thing that happened each month of 2010, here we go....

January - We set the date for our wedding.

February - I threw a surprise 25th birthday party for the hubby.  He had no idea :)

March - I bought the dress. I was pretty  darn excited, especially since the one I bought was the wild card I tried on just cause I was curious what it would look like on.

April - Chris was gone all month at Ft Polk for deployment training, that month pretty much just sucked.

May - May was all about finishing up last minute wedding details, booking beauty appointments, and getting excited for summer.

June - June 5th, 2010 was the big day.  I got all dolled up, walked down the aisle, took a gazillion pics, and had the greatest night of my life. The food was amazing, the guests were great, and the dancing was a blast. I loved my wedding and will always cherish it! Then we went to Cabo for the honeymoon, which was amazing as well.

                                                                           Cabo :)

July - We spent the 4th at my mom's. However it rained that night soooo fireworks/firework shows were kind of a no go. But we still had fun. The rest of the month was me trying my hardest to pause time or slow it down, dreading the coming month.

August - August 5th, the day I had to say good-bye. Even now I can remember that moment as if it were yesterday. The mountain of emotions inside me, the need to burst out in tears the entire day leading up to it, and holding it in with every ounce of my being. Sitting in that gym, with such a gloomy and sullen feeling suffocating the room. And holding him as tight as I could and watching him walk away through tears in my eyes. August was the month I was reminded how much deployments absolutely suck! I moved out of our apartment and back to Aurora with my mom, started a new job which I absolutely loved.

September - I was settling into my "new" life that I thought would become the next year. I spent my days at work, and often my nights nannying to help pass the time. And care package decorating was my exciting Sunday routine. I was getting used to him being gone and then was preparing for him to come home on a very early R&R. Then Sept 26th came and changed our life. The highlite of that day was supposed to be watching the Broncos v. Colts game with Megan and Heather. Then I got that call. The one call that changed my entire life in a split second. That moment is one that will never be forgotten.

October - Almost 2 months to the day, I saw my husband again on Oct 6th. Yet another day in my year filled with a whirlwind of emotions. I also turned 21 in Oct of this year. Oh finally :) It is nice to enjoy a glass of wine at dinner on occasions now!

November - Month 2 at BAMC, nothing too exciting. But it was my first Thanksgiving away from home. was sad, but not too bad.

December - We got to go home for Christmas! Definitely the best part of the month.

As for 2011, I hope for my husband to get back to 100% and be up healthy and walking again. I hope for me to stay healthy, and focused in all aspects of my life. Stick with my passions, and find new ones. Cherish my friendships because I have some pretty awesome ones. And perhaps, be getting back home to CO and getting ready to buy our first home! Just have to see the light, and follow it.
